The Monk from Santarem
The Monk from Santarem (German: Der Mönch von Santarem) is a 1924 German silent film. It adapts the play of the same name by Almeida Garrett. Directed by Lothar Mendes, it stars Evi Eva, Walter Rilla, and Vivian Gibson. The film’s sets were designed by art director Ernst Stern, and the cinematography was by Leopold Kutzleb. It was produced by Suprema-Film and is a silent film with German intertitles. There were rumors that Marlene Dietrich appeared in the movie, but there is no evidence. The film is presumed lost.
