Flushing High School (Michigan)
Flushing High School is a public high school for grades 9–12 in Flushing, Michigan. It is part of Flushing Community Schools and is located at 5039 Deland Road. The principal is Kevin Foltz and the superintendent is Matt Shanafelt. The school had about 1,278 students in the 2022–2023 school year, with roughly 69 full-time staff and a student–teacher ratio of about 18.5 to 1. The school colors are orange and black, and the Raiders compete in the Flint Metro League and the MHSA. The newspaper is The Blazer and the yearbook is Perannos. Notable events:
- On March 19, 1930, 125 students walked out to protest the firing of superintendent Herbert V. Truemner.
- In 1998, a wall collapse during construction of a new auditorium killed four workers.
- In January 2020, Flushing High School opened a new gym and weight center called the Raider Fieldhouse.
