Tarantella (1995 film)
Tarantella is a 1995 American drama directed by Helen De Michiel. It stars Mira Sorvino as Diane Di Sorella, a young Italian-American photographer.
Plot: Diane returns to New Jersey after her mother dies to settle the estate. She has not gotten along with her mother, and packing up the house brings back painful memories. As she reconnects with her heritage and with neighbors, she meets a close friend of her grandmother and late mother who offers support. This friend gives Diane her mother's secret journal. Written in Italian, the journal is read to Diane and reveals her mother's past. Through the journal, Diane comes to understand her mother better and to accept her Italian heritage.
Release: The film premiered on June 7, 1995 at the Seattle International Film Festival and opened in U.S. theaters on March 15, 1996.
