Tammaritu (son of Teumman)
Tammaritu, who died in 653 BCE, was a prince of Elam and the son of King Teumman, who ruled Elam from about 664 to 653 BCE. Teumman lived at the same time as the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal.
After Teumman became king, Elam faced dynastic disputes, and Urtak’s sons fled to Assyria. In 653 BCE, Ashurbanipal attacked Elam. Ashurbanipal later explained his reasons for the war in his annals, written in 649 BCE, citing Teumman’s insolence and threats toward Assyria.
At the Battle of Ulai in 653 BCE, Tammaritu fought to defend his wounded father but both Teumman and Tammaritu were beheaded. After their deaths, Ummanigash became king of Elam.
