Tōgō Shrine (東郷神社) is a Shinto shrine in Harajuku, Tokyo. It was established in 1940 to honor Admiral Tōgō Heihachirō after his death. The shrine was destroyed in World War II and rebuilt in 1964. There is a small museum and a bookshop about Tōgō on the grounds. The shrine sits near the intersection of Takeshita Street and Meiji Avenue and is accessible from Harajuku Station. Admiral Tōgō’s remains are buried at Tama Cemetery in Tokyo. In 2005, the shrine received his original battle flag from the Battle of Tsushima, which had been in Britain since 1911. There are other shrines named after Tōgō as well, such as one in Tsuyazaki, Fukuoka.
