Syd Craft: Love Is a Mystery is a Japanese manga by Taishi Tsutsui. It ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from November 18, 2024, to June 16, 2025, and has four volumes as of 2025. Viz Media licensed the series for North America, and Shueisha published English versions on Manga Plus.
Story: Syd Craft is a brilliant, cool detective who solves tough cases using sharp observation and deduction. He works with his cheerful assistant Elio Evelyn. Together they help police inspector Souffle Flamberry and sometimes stop criminals, including Lulu Chatnoir, who secretly operates as the benevolent cat burglar Mistcat. The four characters become entangled in an unspoken love triangle.
Characters: Syd hates blood and scary moments but relaxes by reading romance novels by his favorite author, Levie Oleyn. Those books help him socialize and even connect with Lulu. Elio admires Syd’s suave detective skills, while Syd envies Elio’s easy charm with women. Syd is unlucky in love, and many women he meets are involved in the crimes he’s solving. Souffle Flamberry relies on their help and sees Syd as a rival to solve crimes quickly. Lulu Chatnoir’s secret identity as Mistcat adds another twist to the story.
