Swooning the Swooners
Swooning the Swooners is a 1945 short animated film from Terrytoons, distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is in Technicolor, runs 6 minutes 29 seconds, and is in English. The film was directed by Connie Rasinski, with a story by John Foster, produced by Paul Terry, and music by Philip A. Scheib.
In a city at night, many cats wearing saddle shoes gather to hear Frankie, a cat who sings a lullaby-like tune. A white cat in a nearby house watches from an open window. Her owner, Farmer Al Falfa, dislikes the song and closes the window. The white cat slips back in, turns on a radio to hear the tune, and Al Falfa, not knowing she’s back inside, smashes the radio. The white cat hides, and the music continues. Al Falfa tries to sleep but the singing troubles him, so he goes downstairs with a rifle. The gun won’t fire, so he hurls a tomato instead, striking the cat singer and knocking her unconscious. The cat audience becomes furious and chases Al Falfa away. He returns home and boards up every door and window with lumber to keep them out. But the white cat reappears with three kittens who resemble the singer and sing the same song. Driven to madness, Al Falfa cartwheels into his backyard and falls into a well.
