Swayamkrushi, meaning Self-made, is a 1987 Telugu drama directed by K. Viswanath. The film stars Chiranjeevi as Sambayya, a humble, self-taught cobbler, and Vijayashanti as Ganga, with Sumalatha as Sarada and Master Arjun as Chinna. The story follows Sambayya’s life as he raises his late sister’s son and supports Sarada’s education, while nurturing a quiet crush on her.

Sambayya’s world changes when Sarada marries Bhaskar and Govind, Sambayya’s criminal brother-in-law and Chinna’s biological father, schemes to take Chinna away. After a fire leads to Govind’s imprisonment, Sambayya marries Ganga and together they start a successful shoe business. Years pass and Chinna grows arrogant from wealth, so Sambayya teaches him humility by making him earn money on the street. Family tensions rise, a custody struggle ensues, and Govind’s scheming is exposed. In the end, Govind reforms, Sambayya regains his wealth but returns to his cobbler life, and Chinna, having learned his lesson, begins working with Sambayya.

The music for Swayamkrushi was composed by Ramesh Naidu, with lyrics by C. Narayana Reddy and Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry, plus a song by Kshetrayya. The film was released on 3 September 1987 and later dubbed in Hindi as Dharamyudh. It was shown at international festivals, including the International Film Festival of India and the Asia Pacific Film Festival, and a Russian-dubbed version appeared at the Moscow International Film Festival. Chiranjeevi won the Indian Express Best Actor and the Nandi Award for Best Actor, while Vijayashanti won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for their performances.
