Summer Brothers
Summer Brothers is a Malaysian Mandarin-language drama and a spin-off of Forget Me Not. It has 30 episodes, each about 45 minutes, and aired on ntv7 from July 12 to September 6, 2012. The show brings back some familiar faces, including Coby Chong as Ah Di, a 28-year-old man with the mind of a child, and William San as his brother Wei Zhong, with Remon Lim playing their mother Shu Xian.
The story follows two brothers who were separated 20 years ago when their parents divorced. Ah Di lives with his mother, who is terminally ill and wants to reunite the brothers, but Ah Di gets lost on the journey to Kuala Lumpur. He befriends Xiao Mei, a kind girl whose parents have died, and who lives with her younger brother Yu Cheng, a hard-working student who must support his sister.
Wei Zhong, once a badminton star, stopped playing after a serious accident that left him injured. His rival Qi Jun rises to fame and marries Chen Rou. Wei Zhong struggles with life until Rui Li, a nurse who cares for him, becomes a supportive presence and secretly loves him.
As Ah Di disappears, Wei Zhong is reluctant to reconnect with him. Shu Xian’s illness worsens, and Rui Li urges Wei Zhong to search for Ah Di. Xiao Mei and Yu Cheng become homeless after their relatives throw them out, and Ah Di vows to help reunite the brothers. Eventually Wei Zhong agrees to take in Ah Di, Xiao Mei, and Yu Cheng, though he finds it hard to adjust.
Yu Cheng dreams of joining Qi Jun’s badminton team, while Qi Jun tries to block Wei Zhong and sows tension between Yu Cheng and his friend Zi Yun. Love interests emerge as Yu Min falls for Zi Yun and Yu Cheng grows closer to Xiao Mei. Rui Li continues to support Wei Zhong, helping him regain his confidence.
Just as Wei Zhong starts to rebuild his life, he learns that Ah Di has been diagnosed with cancer.
