Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum
Located south of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, along Highway 2, the Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and Museum presents life on the Canadian Prairies. The site features historic buildings moved from nearby communities and arranged to resemble a small farming town from the early 1900s to the 1930s.
A key attraction is Tom Sukanen's ship, which was restored at the site by the Moose Jaw Car Club. Tom Sukanen was a Finnish homesteader who hoped to sail home on the ship he built near the South Saskatchewan River.
The village also shows tractors, cars, trucks, and other pioneer artifacts. A notable building is McCabe's Grain Co. grain elevator, built in 1913 and standing about 68 feet tall; it was moved in 2007 from Mawer to a site about 60 km southeast.
The site is restored and run by volunteers with support from the Moose Jaw car club.
