Best Secret GmbH
BestSecret GmbH is an online fashion retailer and closed shopping club based near Munich, Germany. It was founded in 2007 as a subsidiary of Schustermann & Borenstein, a family business dating back to 1924.
The company offers a members‑only shopping experience: access is limited to 250,000 registered members who are invited by existing members, with invitations reviewed by COO Marian Schikora to keep the club exclusive.
BestSecret operates in Germany and many other European countries and acquired the Swiss online retailer FashionFriends in 2016. Ownership has changed hands over the years: in 2012 a large part of Schustermann & Borenstein was sold to AXA Private Equity (now Ardian); Ardian sold the shares to Permira in 2016. In 2020 Moritz Hahn joined as co‑CEO.
The company runs a large central warehouse in Poing near Munich (opened in 2015, 28,800 square meters, with capacity up to 4 million items). Development centers are in Granada and Munich. BestSecret has received awards, including a second‑place finish for Shopping Club in Test Bild’s Beste Service-Qualität 2017/18.
In 2016 a warehouse incident caused injuries but the facility reopened the next day, with stricter security measures promised.
