The stripeback hap, Buccochromis nototaenia, is a freshwater fish in the cichlid family. It is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN. This species is found only in Lake Malawi and Lake Malombe, across Malawi, Mozambique, and Tanzania. It belongs to the Haplochromini tribe within the subfamily Pseudocrenilabrinae.
