Stockholm Records
Stockholm Records is a Swedish record label that is part of Universal Music Group. It was founded in 1992 by Ola Håkansson and Alexander Bard, with PolyGram as the original distributor in London. The label released music across various genres and signed artists like Army of Lovers, The Cardigans, A-Teens, E-Type, and Lisa Miskovsky. Johan Renck began his career there as Stakka Bo, later becoming a famous music video director. Producer and engineer Johan Lagerlöf also worked with the label. In 1998, Håkansson and Bard sold Stockholm Records to Universal Music Group, and it became a boutique label within Universal. Stockholm Records has been seen as a model for other European music companies, alongside Copenhagen Records and production groups Cheiron and Murlyn Music.
