Breathe is a 2024 American science fiction thriller directed by Stefon Bristol and written by Doug Simon. It stars Jennifer Hudson, Milla Jovovich, Quvenzhané Wallis, Common, and Sam Worthington.

Plot
In a near-future Earth, oxygen levels have dropped to 5%, making it impossible to live on the surface without special gear. After a tipping-point catastrophe, plants vanish and humanity fights over scarce oxygen. Survivors continually move to new locations in search of an “oxygen generator,” often turning on each other in the process.

Production
The screenplay by Doug Simon was included on the 2019 Black List of popular unproduced scripts. In May 2022, it was announced that Hudson, Jovovich, Wallis, Common, and Worthington would star, with Stefon Bristol directing. Filming took place in Pennsylvania in late 2022. Production companies are Capstone Studios, Thunder Road Films, and Streamline Global; the film was distributed by Variance Films.

Release
Breathe was released in limited theaters and through VOD/digital platforms on April 26, 2024. The runtime is 93 minutes.
