Still Over It
Still Over It is Summer Walker’s second studio album, released on November 5, 2021, by Love Renaissance (LVRN) and Interscope. Seen as a follow-up to her 2019 debut Over It, the project is framed as a musical “story” about her breakup with record producer London on da Track and the time that followed. The 20 tracks form a timeline from August 4, 2019 to October 7, 2021, blending contemporary R&B with neo-soul and trap influences.
The album features Cardi B, JT (City Girls), Lil Durk, Pharrell Williams, SZA, Ari Lennox, Omarion, and Ciara. It’s been praised for its cohesiveness and candid, introspective lyrics, with many critics calling it Walker’s best work to date. It also marked a commercial high point for her, breaking streaming records for a female R&B artist on Apple Music and debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 166,000 album-equivalent units. It was the biggest opening week for an R&B album by a woman since Beyoncé’s Lemonade (2016).
Ex for a Reason, featuring JT, was released as the lead single on October 15, 2021. No Love, with SZA, followed on March 29, 2022. The album runs about 60 minutes (63:36 overall) and has two cover artworks: a physical version showing Walker with her daughter in a kitchen, and a digital version with Walker in a car, fending off paparazzi.
Walker promoted the project with live TV and online performances, including a solo rendition of Unloyal on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on November 8, 2021, and a Soul Train Music Awards performance with Ari Lennox. Critics highlighted how the songs map real-life experiences into moments of vulnerability, anger, and resilience.
In 2024, Still Over It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling and streaming over 1 million units in the United States.
