Ehteshamuddin (cricketer)
Ehteshamuddin, born on 4 September 1950 in Lahore, Pakistan, is a former Pakistani cricketer. He was a right-arm fast-medium bowler who relied on accuracy rather than pace and was a handy lower-order batsman. He played in five Test matches for Pakistan between 1979 and 1982, making his debut on 21 November 1979 against India.
During Pakistan’s 1979–80 tour of India, he took 14 wickets at an average under 20, with a standout performance of 5/47 in the first innings of the Kanpur Test, sharing all 10 Indian wickets with Sikander Bakht (5/56 in the second innings). He also played one Test against Australia in that season.
His last Test came in 1982 against England at Headingley, where he was a last-minute replacement due to injuries in the team. He took the first England wicket, Graeme Fowler, but bowled only 14 overs before suffering a hamstring injury and did not bowl again in the match; Pakistan lost the game and the series. He did not play Test cricket again after that.
In domestic cricket, he had a long First-class career with many wickets. Later, he served as a selector for the Pakistan national team. At the time of his last Test, he was playing club cricket for Daisy Hill in the Bolton Association league.
