Steven Taubert, born 6 October 1953, is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the VFL for Richmond, Essendon and Sydney. A 193 cm ruckman, he was originally with Melbourne High School Old Boys.

Taubert began his league career with Richmond, debuting in 1974, a premiership year for the club, and playing 15 games with 14 goals across 1974–76. He moved to Essendon in 1977 and played 64 games for 30 goals through 1981, including finals appearance two seasons later. He finished his playing days with Sydney from 1982 to 1984, adding 44 games and 26 goals. In total, Taubert played 123 VFL games and kicked 70 goals.

Taubert’s best football came with Sydney, especially in 1984 when he polled 15 Brownlow Medal votes and finished fourth, the best Sydney vote-getter that year, though he did not win the Bob Skilton Medal. He retired at the end of the 1984 season.

After retiring, Taubert returned to Sydney as their ruck coach in 1999 and stayed in that role until 2018. He worked with players such as Greg Stafford, Jason Ball, Stephen Doyle, Darren Jolly, Mike Pyke, Mark Seaby, Shane Mumford and Sam Naismith. Jolly valued Taubert’s guidance during a form slump at Collingwood in 2010, and Pyke, who arrived from Canadian rugby union, relied on his expertise as well. Taubert finished his coaching run at the end of the 2017 season.
