The 900th "Kfir" Brigade (Lion Cub Brigade) is the youngest and largest infantry unit in the Israel Defense Forces. It operates under the 99th “Flash” Infantry Division (Reserve) of the Central Regional Command and is based at the Kfir Training Base. Its nickname is the “Young Lions,” and its colors include a spotted beret with camouflage and a white striped flag.

Structure and duties
- The brigade includes four infantry battalions, a training battalion, one special forces battalion, and a communications detachment.
- Its current work is in the West Bank, focusing on counter-terrorism, capturing or arresting militants, raids, patrolling checkpoints, and general security duties. Before 2005, some Kfir units were in Gaza.

History and development
- In the 1990s, the IDF created the Designated Infantry Battalions (the “90s Battalions”) to accompany armored forces. In December 2005, these were merged into a single regular brigade led by Colonel Eyal Nosovski.
- In 2018, the Kfir Brigade took part in exercises simulating Gaza fighting against Hamas. It was reportedly deployed in Gaza in 2019. In 2020, the IDF announced plans to upgrade the brigade into a superior infantry unit with more weapons, personnel, vehicles, and training.
- Colonel Sharon Altit became commander in May 2021, replacing Colonel Eran Uliel. There have been reports related to West Bank settlement issues involving some brigade soldiers.

Training and recruitment
- Recruits go through eight months of combat training: about four months of basic training, then 3–4 months of advanced training in urban warfare, weapons, APC operations, chemical warfare, and other modern battlefield skills.
- To join elite units Sayeret Oketz (Special K-9) or Sayeret LOTAR (Special Counter-Terror), recruits are encouraged to choose Kfir first and must pass a selection process. Those who are not selected still serve in the Kfir Brigade.
- Soldiers in Kfir wear a camo beret and red-brown combat boots, and the brigade uses the M4 Carbine.

Memorial
- The brigade’s memorial is in Afula, with Bible verses inscribed on the left and right wings.
