Steve Ingle
Steve Ingle (Stephen Paul Ingle) was an English footballer who played as a right back. He was born on 22 October 1946 in Manningham, Bradford, England. He started his career with Bradford City, turning professional in 1964. He played for Bradford City (90 league appearances, 15 goals) and then for Southend United, Wrexham (1967–1972; 149 appearances, 5 goals), Stockport County, Southport, and Darlington. He finished his playing career in South Africa with Arcadia Shepherds, totaling 293 league appearances and 23 goals.
With Wrexham, he helped the club win promotion to the Football League in 1970 and reach the Welsh Cup final. After retiring from football, Ingle lived in Pretoria, South Africa, with his wife and three sons and worked as a lift engineer. He survived a lift shaft accident in 1995, spending six months in hospital. Steve Ingle died from COVID-19 on 16 December 2020, aged 74, during the pandemic in South Africa.
