Tangir District

Tangir District is in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. It covers 1,106 square kilometers and has about 31,257 people (2023). The people mostly live in the Tangir River valley, a right tributary of the Indus. Urdu is the official language. Tangir has one tehsil, and the district headquarters are in Tangir. It is about 67 kilometers from Chilas.

Until 2019, Tangir was a tehsil of Diamer District, along with Darel and Chilas. It is bordered to the north by Gupis-Yasin, northeast by Ghizer, east by Darel, and to the south and west by Upper Kohistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
