Stefano Nolfi
Stefano Nolfi, born 23 September 1963 in Rome, is an Italian scientist in artificial intelligence and robotics. He is director of research at the Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies of the National Research Council (CNR) and leads the Laboratory of Autonomous Robots and Artificial Life. He is a founder of Evolutionary Robotics and published a book on the topic with MIT Press in 2000. His research looks at how communication and language evolve, how language connects to action, adaptive behavior, and swarm robotics. His team at the institute is exploring new ways to develop AI, including language-related capabilities. Nolfi earned a master's degree in literature and philosophy from the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1986.
