Down by the Jetty is the debut album by the English rock band Dr. Feelgood, released in January 1975. It was recorded in 1974 at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth and produced by Vic Maile. The album runs 41 minutes and 25 seconds and was released by United Artists. It features Wilko Johnson’s original songs, such as “Keep It Out of Sight,” along with covers like “Bonie Moronie” and “Tequila.”

In 2006, the album was reissued as a double CD by EMI, remastered with bonus tracks. The original album is on CD 1 in mono, while CD 2 contains the stereo version and extra material, including alternate takes. All tracks were written by Wilko Johnson, unless otherwise noted.

Down by the Jetty influenced many artists. Paul Weller and Bob Geldof have cited it as an influence, as have Blondie, the Ramones and Richard Hell, who were introduced to the album by Blondie drummer Clem Burke. Before being signed, Paul Weller’s band the Jam demoed a cover of “Cheque Book” in 1976. A copy of the album is visible on the sleeve of the Style Council’s 1985 album Our Favourite Shop. In 2006, Uncut magazine ranked it number 87 on its list of the 100 greatest debut albums.
