Stadion Chernomorets
Stadion Chernomorets (Bulgarian: Стадион „Черноморец“) is a multi‑purpose stadium in Burgas, Bulgaria. It was mainly used for football and was the home ground of Chernomorets Burgas and FC Chernomorets 1919 Burgas. Built in 1954, it originally held about 22,000 spectators. Before 1990 the stadium was known as 9th September.
In 2006, Chernomorets Burgas moved to the newer Lazur Stadium, and plans for a larger sports complex around Stadion Chernomorets were never completed. The site fell into disrepair. In 2015, part of the UEFA funding for the Under-17 Championship helped with some upgrades, but the stadium itself did not host matches then and was mainly used for training.
In 2019, to mark the club’s 100th anniversary, renovations began. The main stand got new concrete and seating, a VIP lounge was added, the administrative building was updated, the pitch was re-laid, and unused areas were cleared. The renovated stadium had a licensed capacity of 1,300. In 2022 the club left due to higher rent from the owners, and since then the stadium is largely back to its pre-2019 state.
Record attendance at the stadium was about 40,000 for a match between FC Chernomorets Burgas and Levski Sofia.
