Speed is an unincorporated community in Palestine Township, Cooper County, Missouri, United States. It is located along Missouri Route F, on the west bank of Stephens Branch of Petite Saline Creek, about four miles north of Bunceton; Boonville is roughly nine miles to the north-northeast, and Bellair is about two miles to the west on Missouri Route 5. Speed was first laid out in 1868 as New Palestine and was renamed after Austin Speed, a railroad official. A post office operated as New Palestine beginning in 1869, the name changed to Speed in 1898, and the post office closed in 1955. The ZIP code is 65233, and the elevation is 669 feet (204 meters).
