Soyuz TMA-12
Soyuz TMA-12 was a mission to the International Space Station (ISS) launched from Baikonur on April 8, 2008, by a Soyuz-FG rocket. The three-person crew consisted of Sergei Volkov, Oleg Kononenko, and Yi So-yeon, who flew as a government guest under Korea’s Korea Astronaut Program. Richard Garriott flew as a private astronaut on the mission. The spacecraft docked with the ISS at the Pirs docking compartment on April 10, 2008. The crew stayed aboard the station for about 198 days before landing back on Earth on October 24, 2008. Ko San was originally scheduled to fly but did not due to a training-center incident. Yi So-yeon’s participation made her Korea’s first space traveler, funded by Korea.
