Somalia–South Korea relations are the bilateral ties between Somalia and South Korea. Diplomatic relations were established on 25 September 1987, and South Korea recognizes the Federal Government of Somalia. In May 2013, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud accepted the credentials of Kim Chan-Woo, the new South Korean ambassador to Mogadishu—the first Asian-Pacific country’s diplomat to work in Somalia in many years. Chan-Woo said South Korea would reopen its embassy in Mogadishu and would support Somalia's reconstruction using Korea's post-war development experience. He also announced plans for agricultural and technical projects in Somalia.
