Socket 2 was a 238-pin, zero insertion force (ZIF) CPU socket with a 19×19 pin grid array (PGA). It was an updated version of Socket 1 that added support for Pentium OverDrive processors. Designed for 5-volt CPUs, it supported 486-class processors (SX, DX, DX2, and OverDrive) at speeds around 25–66 MHz, and Pentium OverDrive CPUs at 63 or 83 MHz. It followed Socket 1 and preceded Socket 3 in the CPU socket series.
