Lambda Sigma Gamma
Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority, Incorporated (ΛΣΓ) is an American multicultural sorority founded on October 24, 1986, at California State University, Sacramento. It is a service-based, nonprofit organization and a member of the National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC); it was incorporated in Delaware on April 3, 1998.
The motto is "Unity Through Sisterhood," and its pillars are Academics, Multiculturalism, Sisterhood, Community Service, and Professionalism. The sorority’s colors are Kelly green, white, and ruby red; its flower is the red rose, and its jewels are emerald, pearl, and ruby. The mascot is a tan teddy bear with a red ribbon.
Lambda Sigma Gamma’s national philanthropy is the California Head Start Program, adopted in 1989. The sorority has 26 active chapters and about 4,000 active members. Graduation cords honor degree level: green for bachelor's, white for master's, black for doctorates, and yellow for advanced degrees.
