Shigeru Chiba is the stage name of Masaharu Maeda, born February 4, 1954, in Kikuchi, Kumamoto, Japan. He is a Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator, talent, and sound director, working since 1972 and affiliated with the agency 81 Produce.

Chiba is famous for many roles, such as Yoshihiro Kira in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, the narrator in Fist of the North Star, Megane in Urusei Yatsura, Rei Ichidō in High School! Kimengumi, Kazuma Kuwabara in YuYu Hakusho, Pilaf, Raditz and Garlic Jr. in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, Buggy the Clown in One Piece, Kefka Palazzo in Dissidia Final Fantasy, and Kōichi Todome in Kerberos Saga. He was also a mentor to voice actress Megumi Hayashibara.

Before voice acting, Chiba worked as a stunt actor and appeared in Nikkatsu Roman Porno films. He starred in the promotion-film Kurenai no Gankyō and acted in Mamoru Oshii’s Cerberus, Hell’s Watchdog, and Talking Head. Chiba is known for handling both serious and comedic roles.
