Sheridan is a small town in Madison County, Montana, United States. It has about 694 people (2020) and covers roughly 1 square mile, all land. The town sits at an elevation of 5,128 feet and lies in the Ruby Valley, surrounded by seven mountain ranges: the Tobacco Root Mountains, Highland Mountains, McCartney Mountain, The Pioneers, The Ruby Range, The Gravelly Range, and the Snowcrest Range. The Ruby River runs through the valley just west of Sheridan.

Sheridan began in 1863 when James Gammell built a sawmill on Mill Creek. Montana Highway 287 passes through the town. The climate is semi-arid.

Government: Sheridan has a mayor and four council members. Brandy Tudor was elected mayor in 2025.

Education: Sheridan is in the Sheridan Public Schools district (K–12). The Sheridan Public Library serves the community. The Madisonian is the local weekly newspaper.
