Shaznay Lewis
Shaznay Lewis, born Tricia Marie Lewis on 14 October 1975 in Islington, London, is an English singer and songwriter. She co-founded the girl group All Saints in 1993 with Melanie Blatt. The group became a major success, winning two Brit Awards and an Ivor Novello Award for songwriting, and Lewis co-wrote three UK No.1 singles: Never Ever, Bootie Call, and Pure Shores.
After All Saints, Lewis began a solo career. Her debut album Open arrived in 2004, with the lead single Never Felt Like This Before reaching the UK top 10 and the album peaking at No. 22. She released a second solo album, Pages, on 17 May 2024, featuring singles such as Kiss of Life, Good Mourning, and Got to Let Go. In January 2024 she released Miracle, her first solo single in 20 years.
Lewis has acted in Bend It Like Beckham (2002) and appeared in other projects, including Band Aid 20 in 2004. She has written songs for other artists, including Westlife’s Reach Out (2009) and Stooshe’s Black Heart (2012). In 2019 she co-wrote the theme music for the Netflix series Turn Up Charlie with Idris Elba.
All Saints reformed in the mid-2000s, releasing Studio 1 in 2006 and the hit single Rock Steady, which reached No. 3 in the UK. The group later released the albums Red Flag (2016) and Testament (2018) and continued to tour.
Shaznay was raised by a Barbadian father and a Jamaican mother. She grew up in London, supported Tottenham Hotspur, and briefly played for Arsenal Ladies as a teenager. She married dancer Christian “Storm” Horsfall in 2004 and has two children, Tyler-Xaine (born 2006) and Tigerlily (born 2009).
