Örebro Municipality
Örebro Municipality is in central Sweden, in Örebro County. The seat is the city of Örebro. The municipality was created in 1971 from the City of Örebro and surrounding rural areas and expanded in 1974. In 1995 it was split when Lekeberg Municipality was recreated. It covers about 1,621 square kilometers, with around 1,373 km2 of land and 247 km2 of water. As of 30 June 2025, about 160,143 people live there, giving a population density of about 116 people per square kilometer. The area lies in the provinces of Närke and Västmanland. The municipal code is 1880. The time zone is CET (UTC+1) and CEST (UTC+2) in summer. The official website is orebro.se. Örebro has seven twin towns.
