Texan–Yucatán relations describe the cooperation between the Republic of Texas and the Republic of Yucatán after they broke away from Mexico. Texas declared independence in 1836 and Yucatán followed in 1841 with help from Texan naval forces. The two states formed an alliance to stay independent, though land fighting was minimal and sea battles continued. Mexico received ironclads from Britain, while France gave diplomatic support to both Texas and Yucatán. Each side had an embassy in the other’s capital—Yucatán in Austin, Texas, and Texas in Mérida, Yucatán. The relationship ended in 1845 when Texas was annexed by the United States.
