Sharon Hall Robinson (born December 2, 1949) is an American cellist known for solo performances, chamber music, and as a member of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio. She grew up in Houston in a musical family; both parents played in the Houston Symphony, and her siblings also became professional musicians. She studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts, the University of Southern California, and the Peabody Institute, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1972.

Robinson made her New York debut in 1974 with Jaime Laredo and Samuel Sanders, and her 1977 solo recital was praised by the New York Times. She has performed with many major orchestras around the world, including in the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom, and with the National Symphony in Washington, D.C., and the Tonhalle Orchestra of Zürich.

In 1977 she formed the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio with Jaime Laredo and Joseph Kalichstein, one of the world’s leading piano trios. The group has toured and recorded worldwide. Robinson has taught widely and joined the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in 2005; in 2012 she and her husband joined the string faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Her awards include the Avery Fisher Recital Award and the Piatigorsky Memorial Award, and she was Grammy-nominated. She has been married to Jaime Laredo since 1977. Her discography includes more than a dozen recordings on several labels.
