Shang Ruihua
Shang Ruihua, born 18 November 1944, is a Chinese football coach known for leading the China women’s national team twice. From 1987 to 1991, he guided China to the quarterfinals of the 1991 FIFA Women’s World Cup. After a 17-year break, he returned in 2008 to replace Élisabeth Loisel and led the team to the 2008 Olympics, resigning in 2010 after China failed to qualify for the 2011 World Cup. He also coached the Chinese Taipei women’s team in 1994–95 and is often called the godfather of Chinese women’s football.
