Shake Ya Ass
Shake Ya Ass is a song by American rapper Mystikal from his 2000 album Lets Get Ready. It was released on July 18, 2000 as the first single. The Neptunes produced the track, and Pharrell Williams sings the hook on many versions, though he isn’t always credited. The song became Mystikal’s biggest hit, reaching number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and number 7 on the Hot Rap Singles chart.
There were two clean radio edits with different lyrics, and the album version uses the cleaned title Shake It Fast. The music video, directed by Little X, shows Mystikal at a party with three women who wear masks. Pharrell also appears in the video. The video vixens are Melyssa Ford, Tanisha Scott, and Maritza Murray. The track is often remembered as Mystikal’s most popular song.
Pitchfork listed it as the 303rd best song of the 2000s. The song has appeared in many films and shows, including The Hot Chick, Zoolander, Crossroads, Scary Movie 2, Identity Thief, Treme, and Everybody Hates Chris, and in the video game GTA IV. In 2002 Mystikal faced a lawsuit over similarities to a keychain toy, but he later said releasing the song helped his career and that it became his biggest hit.
