Senec District
Senec District is in western Slovakia, in the Bratislava Region. It covers 359.88 square kilometers and is made up of 29 municipalities. The administrative seat and largest town is Senec. The district was established in 1996. It is largely a bedroom community for Bratislava and is known for recreation, especially the Sunny Lakes (Slnečné jazerá). The area has about 106,951 residents (as of 2024) and around 34,623 free-standing houses.
In 2021 the population was ethnically diverse, with a Slovak majority and sizable minority groups including Hungarians, Czechs, Rusyns, Ukrainians and others. Religiously, most people identified as Roman Catholic or had no listed religion, with smaller numbers belonging to Evangelical, Greek Catholic and other churches.
