Administrator of Lakshadweep
The administrator is the constitutional and executive head of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. They also serve as the ex-officio Inspector General of Lakshadweep Police and chair two public bodies: the Lakshadweep Development Corporation and SPORTS (Society for Promotion of Recreational Tourism and Sports).
Current administrator: Praful Khoda Patel (additional charge), in office since 5 December 2020. Appointed by the President of India. Term length: five years.
Formation: 1 November 1956. The first administrator was U. R. Panicker.
Oath: The administrator swears to faithfully discharge the duties of office, defend the Constitution and laws, and serve the people of Lakshadweep.
