Idiosepius kijimuna
Idiosepius kijimuna, the Ryukyuan pygmy squid, is a tiny bobtail squid from the Ryukyu Islands in Japan. It grows to about 1.2 cm long and has red markings. This species lives in Okinawan waters and is named after Kijimuna, the red-haired forest fairies from Okinawan folklore. It was described in 2023 by A. Reid, N. Sato, Jolly, and Strugnell. Land use and habitat loss threaten its survival.
