Second Development Cabinet
The Second Development Cabinet (Kabinet Pembangunan II) was the 29th Indonesian cabinet, led by President Suharto and Vice President Hamengkubuwono IX. It served from 28 March 1973 to 29 March 1978 and consisted of 22 ministers from the armed forces, the Indonesian Democratic Party, and the United Development Party as part of a coalition government. It followed the Development I Cabinet and was followed by the Development III Cabinet.
During this period, the government launched the Second Pelita development plan on 1 April 1974, running until 31 March 1979. Its goals were to improve food, clothing, housing, infrastructure, welfare, and employment. The plan helped achieve about 7% average annual economic growth, with improvements in irrigation, stronger industrial production, and the rehabilitation and construction of many roads and bridges.
A notable event of this cabinet era was the Malari incident on 15–16 January 1974, which occurred during a visit by Japanese Prime Minister Tanaka Kakuei.
