The final of the 2017–18 Taça da Liga was played on 27 January 2018 at Estádio Municipal de Braga. Vitória de Setúbal and Sporting CP met in a rematch of the competition’s first final, ten years earlier.
The match ended 1–1 after 90 minutes. Gonçalo Paciência gave Setúbal the lead, and Sporting CP equalised late when Podstawski’s handball in the area was spotted (via VAR) and Bas Dost converted the resulting penalty.
Sporting CP won the trophy 5–4 on penalties, with Podstawski the only player to miss, hitting the crossbar.
Key details: the final four format meant all matches were played at the same venue in Braga; attendance was 24,137 and the referee was Rui Costa. It was Sporting CP’s first Taça da Liga title. The match also featured a high number of yellow cards (nine in total).
