Scott McManus
Scott Harrison McManus (born 28 May 1989 in Prestwich, England) is an English footballer who plays as a left-back for Barwell in the Southern League Premier Division Central.
He started as an apprentice with Manchester United but left at 15 without a contract. After that, he played for Prestwich Heys, Curzon Ashton, and Crewe Alexandra. He made his Crewe debut late in the 2008–09 season and scored his first goal for the club in a 4–3 defeat at Stockport.
In 2010 he joined FC United of Manchester, and a year later moved to Halifax Town. At Halifax he became a regular and helped the club win the FA Trophy in 2015–16 with the only goal in the final against Grimsby Town. He also contributed to their promotion success in the early 2010s.
In 2018 he joined Coalville Town, then moved to Nuneaton Borough in 2021. He returned to Coalville in 2024 and later that year joined Barwell.
He is the brother of Abbie McManus, who has played for Manchester United and England.
Off the field, McManus received a 16-week suspended prison sentence after an incident involving his girlfriend during his time at FC United of Manchester. The sentence was suspended for two years, and he was ordered to pay £500. He has said he left Halifax partly to gain more financial security for his family and to advance his football career.
