Sardegna Digital Library
The Sardegna Digital Library (SDL) is an online library run by the Council of the Sardinia Region. It opened in April 2008 during the government of Renato Soru. The library collects multimedia materials about Sardinia— culture, history, art, landscapes and the environment— and makes them available in an online archive.
SDL brings together content from regional sites and Italian archives such as ISRE, Istituto Luce and Rai, plus works by Sardinian authors. Today it has more than 33,000 images, 5,600 audio tracks, 2,000 videos and 2,600 publications. The materials follow international cataloging standards and are free to browse. The archive includes videos, images, audio and texts, and is continuously updated with new material from regional sites and authors.
The site is divided into five sections: Videos, Images, Audio, Texts and Topics. A search tool lets you search each section separately. All items are digitized and can be used on the site in FLV and MP3 formats, and can be downloaded as podcasts in WMV, iPod-MP4 and MP3 formats.
