Sap, Grosuplje
Sap is a former village in the eastern part of Šmarje–Sap, in central Slovenia. It is part of the Grosuplje Municipality, in the traditional region of Lower Carniola and the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. The old village center sits along the old road from Ljubljana to Grosuplje on the northeast slope of Globošček Hill (401 m). Newer houses are to the northwest. The Mahovje meadows lie to the north near the railroad, and the Vodotuča Valley lies north of the railroad with more meadows and fields.
The village was recorded as Sapp or Ispe between 1763 and 1787. The name comes from sap, meaning embankment. Sap had 146 residents in 1870, 135 in 1880, 157 in 1890, and 142 in 1900.
In 1961, Sap merged with the nearby village of Šmarje to form Šmarje–Sap, so Sap no longer exists as an independent settlement.
