Sandra Sully
Sandra Lee Sully AM (born 18 February 1965) is an Australian news presenter and journalist. She is currently the presenter of 10 News in Sydney. Born in Brisbane, she attended Brisbane State High School, graduating in 1978.
Sully began her TV career in Brisbane and later moved to Sydney, where she presented Ten Eyewitness News Sydney’s 5:00 pm bulletin. She is best known for her long run as a newsreader on Ten Late News from 1995 to 2011. She was the first Australian journalist to report on the September 11 attacks, delivering live coverage as the first plane hit.
She has hosted other programs as well: the second season of Australia’s Brainiest in 2005, and Cool Aid Australia’s National Carbon Test in 2008. She was the first woman to co-host the Melbourne Cup carnival broadcast for seven years.
In 2013, Sully and fellow Ten journalist Matt Doran produced a crime program called Wanted, which investigated unsolved cases and asked viewers to help Crimestoppers.
From 2018 she presented 10 News First Sydney. Between 2020 and 2024 she also presented the Queensland bulletin from Sydney as part of schedule changes, before a standalone Queensland edition was revived in September 2024 with Sharyn Ghidella.
In 2023 she appeared on The Masked Singer as "Fawn" and was eliminated early.
Sully was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2024 for her service to the media, charities and the community.
In her personal life, she was the victim of an apparent stalker in 1997, and was pistol-whipped twice in the car park of her home after returning from a late shift. She later hired security guards. She married Symon Brewis-Weston in 2011 and became stepmother to his adopted daughter.
