Adam Freeland
Adam Freeland (born 7 August 1973) is an English DJ and record producer who runs the Marine Parade label. The label has released music by Evil Nine, ILS, Alex Metric and Jape.
Born in Welwyn Garden City, England, Freeland began DJing in 1991, mixing deep house and later drum and bass. He became a sought-after DJ in Britain and released Coastal Breaks in 1996, then formed the electronic duo Tsunami One with Kevin Beber. From 1999 to 2001 he hosted a Friday night show on London's Kiss 100.
His debut studio album, Now & Them, appeared in the early 2000s and blended punk, hip hop, electro, dub, reggae and rock. It included the UK Top 40 hit “We Want Your Soul.” Freeland’s remix of Sarah Vaughan’s “Fever” earned a Grammy nomination in 2006, and his remix of The Doors’ “Hello, I Love You” received wide acclaim.
Freeland is also part of the trio The Acid, with Steve Nalepa and RY X. They released an EP in 2013 and a full album, Liminal, in 2014.
He lived in Brighton for a time, moved to Los Angeles to work on the project Cope™, then returned to Brighton. In 2010 he released Cope™ Remixed on Marine Parade, along with the single “How To Fake Your Own Life” featuring various remixes.
Freeland’s music has appeared in many games and films. His track “Fear” was used in Rez and evolved into “Mind Killer” for Need for Speed: Underground 2. His remix of Infusion’s “Better World” appeared in Burnout Revenge, and he contributed to projects for Juiced 2, The Sims 2, Grand Theft Auto IV, Forza Motorsport 3 and The Animatrix, among others.
