Samea sylvialis

Samea sylvialis is a moth in the Crambidae family. It can be found in Brazil, Venezuela, and Costa Rica.

Appearance: Adults are grayish-brown with a slight purplish tint on the wings. The inner and outer wing lines are whitish. On the forewings there are dark brown circular and kidney-shaped marks (orbicular and reniform), with the reniform mark forming a short streak inside a small whitish spot. The line on the hindwings is not very distinct.

Taxonomy: Kingdom Animalia; Phylum Arthropoda; Class Insecta; Order Lepidoptera; Family Crambidae; Genus Samea; Species sylvialis. Binomial name Samea sylvialis (Walker, 1859). Synonyms include Botys sylvialis, Mimudea sylvialis, and Botys myopicalis.
