Saint Rogelia
Saint Rogelia is a 1940 Spanish drama film directed by Roberto de Ribón. It stars Germaine Montero, Rafael Rivelles and Juan de Landa, and is based on the 1926 novel Santa Rogelia by Armando Palacio Valdés. The movie was filmed at Cinecittà in Rome as part of a cooperation between Franco's Nationalists and the Italian government; an Italian-language version, The Sin of Rogelia Sanchez, was made at the same time. The screenplay was written by Alberto Moravia and Mario Soldati, with the director also credited. The film’s sets were designed by Guido Fiorini, and the music is by Federico Moreno Torroba. Cinematography was by Francesco Izzarelli, Jan Stallich and Augusto Tiezzi; editing by Mario Bonotti. Saint Rogelia was released on 15 January 1940 in Spain. It was produced by Producciones Hispánicas and Società Anonima Finanziamento Industrie Cinematografiche. A remake appeared in 1962, directed by Rafael Gil.
