Rudi Thomaes, Baron Thomaes (21 August 1952 – 25 July 2018) was a Belgian businessman. He served as CEO of the Federation of Belgian Enterprises from 2004 to 2012 and was a regent of the National Bank of Belgium from 29 March 2005. He studied law at the University of Antwerp, earning a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. He started his career in 1976 at Bell Telephone as Financial Export Coordinator. He later held key roles at Alcatel Bell, ITT Industries Belgium, and Bell Telephone, including General Counsel (1988–1998), Chief Operating Officer (1999), and Chief Executive Officer and President of the Alcatel Bell Management Committee (1999). He helped negotiate a joint venture and license with China and led Alcatel Bell’s strategic change plan in 1997.
