Avec Sans is a London-based electro-pop duo formed by Alice Fox and Jack St. James. The name, drawn from French, means “with without.” Fox handles vocals and production, while St. James works on electronics and production. Fox is from Manchester and St. James from Trinidad. They began performing live in 2013 and are known for energetic shows using Novation launchpads, with Jack even filming performances that feature many launchpads at once.

The duo received strong press support, including praise from The Guardian for their sophisticated, delicate synthpop with interesting production and catchy melodies. They’ve also been covered by Music Week, Clash, VH1, MTV Iggy, Elle, NME and many others. Their music has appeared on TV, with When You Go featured on MTV’s Scream, Close My Eyes used in MTV Suspect, and The Answer in Are You the One? They’ve enjoyed radio play across the UK and US, and their singles include Hold On, Shiver, All of Time, Resonate, Heartbreak Hi and Perth. Heartbreak Hi reached number one on Amazing Radio.

Avec Sans have toured internationally, including Canadian Music Week in 2015, CMJ in New York in 2015, and SXSW in 2016. They have supported acts like Little Boots, Capital Cities, Kate Boy and were the main support for Ladyhawke on her UK tour. They’ve played major festivals such as The Great Escape, Kendal Calling and Redfest, among others.

They have remixed artists like Swiss Lips and Haerts, earning praise from DJ Sasha. Before performing publicly, they designed a shoe for London fashion brand Swear, and in 2014 their music was used on Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week catwalks. They’ve been named band of the year by Dolce & Gabbana, were Track of the Day on Vogue.com, and have been featured in Teen Vogue and Elle. They also DJ’d for the Milan launch of Sandro. In July 2016, Avec Sans released their debut album, Heartbreak Hi, on Beverly Martel.
